ABOUT JANET BANKS
Uncover the Path Back to Yourself, Guided By Values.
From nurse to life coach, my work is rooted in experience, empathy, and truth. I support women in midlife as they reconnect with who they are and who they’re becoming.
Nurse turned Life Coach, what?
Can you do that? How she learned who she is.
I’ve got more nursing experience and degrees than you could shake a stick at! I love that I can take all of the caring and science of nursing and blend it with the psychotherapy and deep coaching skills I’ve gained and serve it up to you in a supportive and no-holds-barred truth seeking session! I have worked at the bedside, in leadership and in nursing education.
I am from a big, Catholic family and have 5 sisters and 1 brother. I am a wife and mother and grandmother. My children are grown and married, male, female and non-binary; heterosexual and pansexual; loved and loving. I am a native Oregonian and am not intimidated by a rainy day. I subscribe to the words of someone important who said that there is no such thing as bad weather, only the wrong clothes.

Another favorite adage is, this too shall pass. I remember my grandmother telling my brother, on the day of his high school graduation, “to thine own self be true.” I was only 15 at the time and I was not altogether sure what that meant. But now I am pretty sure I do. I bring lessons learned from all of the roles and titles I have held. And I have stepped away from many roles in the several years…undoing. Undoing the perfectionism. Undoing the self-talk that kept me small. Being still, hoping to hear the voice inside that would clear up the next steps. The voice is there and I am able to access it more and more. I will continue on this journey as long as I draw breath. I would be so honored to be your guide on the side as you begin your Undoing.

It started to take shape in the spring of 2020, but it had been a growing compost heap for years! I imagined supporting nursing students to develop self-care skills before joining the nursing workforce. What I learned was that I was in need of the self care and I needed to coach myself first. I was burned out in my roles and learning about nurse coaching was a distraction that (another certification for the imposter, perfectionist and people pleaser) was vital in helping me see my way back.
The lockdown slowed my trajectory but also clarified that I was on a path that was not fulfilling. I am now redoubling my efforts to help women uncover the path back to themselves so they can claim the aligned life they were meant to live.

A Holistic, Deep Coaching Approach
I believe that we all have an inner knowing but after a lifetime of external influences where we turn down the volume of our inner knowing a little bit at a time, we eventually stop hearing our truth.
I use a combination of holistic nursing assessment, psychotherapy techniques and deep coaching to facilitate a client’s journey back to themselves.
